US Customs

The Cybersmuggling Unit, a special task force of the US Customs Service, has been set up to handle Internet child pornography cases. It has just recently been organized as a separate unit of Customs. While it also handles the predator cases that emerge from child pornography investigations, its primary jurisdiction is limited to child pornography.

When illegal material sold online or off-line. Special rules apply, though, when things that are legal where sold are illegal where bought.

Typically, the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the US Customs Service when the goods are imported to the United States from another country, whether they are brought in by the purchaser or sent pursuant to an Internet order. The Customs connection is very important to the worldwide effort, since US Customs has more agents outside of the US than does most other federal law-enforcement efforts. This team works tirelessly to help protect children & to eradicate child pornography.
